Linda Cannings graduated from Southern Cross University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Laws/Human Movement Science. She was admitted to the profession in 2003 and has been practising in family law for 21 years. In 2009, Linda successfully completed the Family Law Specialist Accreditation course and has been an Accredited Specialist in Family Law for the past 15 years.
Linda has expertise in all areas of family law and has extensive experience in complex property and parenting matters, including matters with large property pools and complex entity structures, and matters where there are complex parenting disputes. Linda’s long-standing relationships with experts including accountants, business valuers, property valuers, mediators, counsellors and barristers ensures the best outcome for her clients.
With her exceptional communication and negotiation skills, Linda has a strong focus on dispute resolution and mediation. Linda is in the process of renewing her mediation accreditation and completing the Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner course through the College of Law. Linda is collaboratively trained and is a member of the Queensland Association of Collaborative Practitioners. While resolving matters outside of court is always the preferred path, Linda is also an experienced and skilled advocate in the event a matter is required to go to court.
Linda’s primary focus is to guide her clients through what is often a traumatic and emotionally difficult time in such a way that allows them to come out the other end of the process thriving and feeling confident with their new life ahead.
Linda has provided pro bono assistance to Community Legal Centres Queensland, including delivering presentations, and volunteered at Caxton Legal Centre for a number of years.
In her free time, Linda enjoys running and spending time with her family and her rescue Greyhound, Rosie.
